Is there a way for the message to preview while the phone is unlocked and you're using it?

I normally turn off message previews because I don't want the actual message to display on my home screen when the phone is down and locked (since everyone can see it). But, when I'm on my phone I can't see the message preview at the top (on the notification) when the phone is unlocked in use.

Just trying to figure out if there's something that can be done. Thanks!

I'm guessing no? You don't even need to unlock to use quick reply on the lockscreen.

The preview applies the same way to locked or unlocked state. You can enable or disable it for both, but not one at a time. You can also disable lock screen notifications completely, but that's not that much of a solution.

I feel like that would be a nice feature addition. Once you're in the phone the preview can appear (since you're actively using it).

When the phone is locked the message preview doesn't appear. I'll write some feedback to Apple, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah people wanted that for a number of iOS versions now. While we get some options added here and there a lot of them don't make it and some get taken away to top it all off.
