I'm using Preview to print a phone bill. It retains the logo and picture but garbles information by putting square outlines instead of my information - name address account number. It retains the amount of the bill etc. It does not do this when I open it in Adobe Acrobat. I need to use Preview, though. Why is it garbling information and is there a way to make it not do this? OS Sierra

Why can't you use the Adobe acrobat reader to print your bill?
I say use what works.

We are assuming the phone bill is a .pdf. Are you opening it from within a browser or have you downloaded the pdf as a separate file? If not try downloading it before printing. What kind of printer are you printing to? In the last century this kind of thing happened when there were PostScript errors due to printer and computer not playing well together. Don’t know if that’s still even a thing anymore. And yeah, why do you “need” to use Preview? Like the guy says, “use what works.”

Try a screenshot using CMD+SHIFT+4, then draw a box around the part you want to print by clicking and dragging that cross-hair symbol. It will save as a screenshot on your desktop. Print that.
