Previewing Vector Artwork Clip Art.

I bought some Clip-Art a long while ago and must be about 15 discs. It's a shame because the only way I can view the vector files are loading individually, Bitmaps can be viewed on Adobe Bridge but don't know what to do about the vectors.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Also what is a raster? I know the difference between vector (mahematically coded drawings that will not distort depending on resize) compared to Bitmap (Lots of little dots) usually used for pics.

Raster ≠ Bitmap, but Bitmap = Raster, as far as I can tell.

As far as previewing EPS files -- there's a Quicklook plug-in that claims to let you do this right from the Finder ...

You can convert most vector clipart .ai and .eps into .pdf files by opening and resaving them from Preview.

The huge advantage of .pdf files is that they preview right in Finder, especially in CoverFlow.

They are also much, much, much smaller files than .eps files and most .ai files.

They also have transparent backgrounds where .eps files are opaque.

The only problem is batch converting them. Preview is fast and makes the smallest files but is unscriptable.

Dragoman has batch processing but uses the less efficient Unix pstopdf routine.

I've had several cracks at trying to get workable actions in Illustrator for conversion, but Illustrator's .pdf files are nowhere as neat or small as Preview versions.

If you wish to add them to an excellent cataloguer that previews just about every format use AtomicView, it is a beautiful, fast and very well design application.

Thanks for your input there ballystock. Does sound nice to convert them all. I don't think I can use the hard-disc space though but great input there. Much appreciated .

You could always drag em to the HD convert them & reburn them to DVD or Dual Layer DVD saving several discs as most clipart packages came on CD, could manage to get it down to 2-3 discs & have them viewable.
