Hey Everyone,

I was going to get a video I rendered from Blender when I found this file called "Previous Systems." I didn't know what it was so I clicked more info and found out that it is 13.79 gigabytes. Right now my hard drive is around 100 gigs, but that's after 2 years of use. I know it will keep filling up, so I want to get rid of un-needed files. So what is this? What will happen if I delete it? Is my computer using it in any way? This was my first iMac, so I didn't use migration assistant or transfer any data.

If anyone knows what this file is/does, please tell me!

It's a folder the OS installer creates when you do an "Archive Install"

What is an "Archive Install"? I once had a problem with my system preferences so I did a thing where the Restore disc didn't whip out my data, but it did reinstall some things...fixed my system preferences! What about when I upgraded to Snow Leopard? It hasn't been 2 years, but based on the date in the provided pictures, I'm guessing it was about then.

Just wondering, where exactly did you find this folder? If it takes up that much space I want to check it, to make sure I'm not wasting lots of disk space.

Thanks,
Jonathan

The folder lies in the root of the hard drive.

So Macintosh HD (or whatever your drive name is)\Previous System.

Look at the above KB article for more info on archive installs.
