when I plug my phone in and iphoto pops up, all the videos on my iphone show up even though they were previously imported. This did not happen with any photos. Is there any way to force them to be hidden without deleting or redownloading them?

This was happening to me as well however I'm not sure if it is anymore after updating to the latest version of iPhoto. I'll check this evening to confirm.
Oops! Totally forgot to check. I'll try to set myself a reminder to check this evening.
As for your iPhoto version, I believe 9.2 is the latest version. You could try updating to that to see if that changes anything.
