Price check for a 2021 MBP

Hi everyone,
was wondering if I could get a price check for a MBP that is 2021. Never bought a macbook before so I have no idea if its a good deal.

2021 MBP - M1 max Processor | 32GB RAM | 512GB Storage | 1.5 Years of Apple Care left
The asking price is $2300

Is this a good deal?

Oh also, does applecare follow the device or the owner?
If I buy any MBP that does have applecare on it, could the owner transfer or take the applecare back?

If you're somewhere where you can buy from the Apple online refurbished store -- that's your best bet.

I'm in the US, California to be specific.
I can buy from apple store refurbish but even those prices are "apple prices".

Yes, it's more.
But it's also "the best deal" you're going to get.
Because you're getting something that you KNOW will work, has no "earlier user problems", and also comes with a 1-year warranty, just like a new one.

Lots of posts about getting "a good deal" and losing all of their money. Might work but there is a risk. Apple refurbished, or another tier 1 seller with rock solid return/warranty policies is the only way to avoid risk.

I have seen a lot of posts on Reddit about users asking what to do about activation locks and it turns out that they bought a stolen machine. I do not know if there's a perfect way to test a system for ownership outside of seeing the original invoice and matching it up to the physical serial number. I've heard of people buying machines with spoofed serial numbers in the About. So buying used systems off Marketplace or Craigslist is now riskier. I generally buy older systems and I haven't heard of this problem on old iMacs (2010-2014). I also prefer to look at it and buy systems either from a company or from the residence of a person so that I have concrete identification of the seller.

I do the same: sell from my residence, provide my phone number and email address, and allow return for a week if they change their mind. I will also provide some level of support if needed.

If the serial number is spoofed, you can also check the bottom case and box (if provided) to double/triple check the correct serial number. Changing the bottom plate to one that has been purchased and installed is less likely.

If you're buying a used machine, you can go into system profiler to ensure activation lock is disabled. I also check to make sure no profiles are installed just to be sure.

Haven't had an issue yet and yes, AppleCare if purchased not on a monthly plan will stay with the machine.

If you are going to proceed with purchasing this MacBook, make sure to write up a bill of sale as well.
