However by adding cellular and more storage, while the price of the iPad increases relative to the MacBook Air, i feel like you get more

$1,999 (allegedly you can get $200 in credits from a US carrier if you buy it)

MacBook Air, 1TB Storage, 16GB RAM
$1,649

At least in this configuration, you get the additional 5G support and 16GB RAM. Still more expensive, but oddly more justifiable IMO

Of course. But 16 GB Ram, Thunderbolt, M1 instead of an A chip, full external display support. Imho those are all hints that Apple will push the iPad Pro in a more Mac like direction.
