I just checked the app store a second ago and noticed de Blob lowered its price by $3.00 from 9.99 to 6.99. I'm wondering if this is going to be a trend. Will they lower price based on customer response?

I would imagine so. Customer response, sales, etc. will factor in. It will probably take a few months for pricing to settle in the App Store. It's a brand new concept, so I expect a lot of fluctuation. Then we'll hit Sept, Oct and beyond when the other apps start hitting that have had many more months of development. That will probably change things quite a bit, too.

I almost bought this the other day. Glad I waited...

This kind of thing makes me not want to buy ANY app on the first day. (Heck, if enough people do this, the developers might think any new app is overpriced, and then lower the price later -- they should be careful about starting such a trend...)

it goes both ways, I've seen apps go the other way.

Some unannounced, but some apps specifically said they were offering an early-bired special on their pricing. Raising and lowering prices is such a touchy issue though. Apple itself is certainly no stranger to its danger. Ironically, LOWERING prices seems to be worst than RAISING prices, in terms of customer relations though. In the former, you piss off your existing customers. In the latter, you make existing customers grateful bargain hunters, and new customers regretful or scornful that they didn't buy earlier. The irony is that lowering prices should generally be seen as "good".

There probably should be some 14 day price guarantee for if the price goes down. Then you know that everything is fair in the system.

And is da blob any good?

I'm thinking between that and Trism (or crash or enigmo - but those are $10 and I already have SMB)

I'm really liking De Blob and I bought it at the original higher price, but thought it was worth it and still do. I also have Trism, Crash and Enigmo but the two games I am playing the most right now is Dizzy Bee and De Blob. Both really nicely done.

I just discovered dizzy bee on the app store and I might get it. I probably won't get enigmo since I downloaded the mac demo and played the 1st 10 levels. Its pretty fun but they didn't make new puzzles for the iphone or anything. Theres absolutely no replay value right?

Just from your experience whats the best idea:

Dizzy Bee + De Blob - $10
Trism + Dizzy Bee - $8
Crash - $10
Enigmo - $10

Obviously you will say bee and blob 1st... but what about 2nd 3rd and 4th place.

***that was probably the most retarded segment of a post ever***

Actually just how would you rate the 5 apps from best to worst.

Thanks lol.

Here is the order I would give them (from best to not so much the best) with my ratings:

1. Dizzy Bee 9/10 (because it's beautifully simple, has variety and reply value and is just a really polished app.)

2. De Blob 9/10 (another polished app and innovative with it's theme and use of both accelerometer and touch. Animation is great and just a feeling of satisfaction leaving paint trails everywhere!)

3. Trism 8/10 (great new twist on a puzzler. I also have Aurora Feint but just haven't played it for some reason. I like the clean graphics of Trism better.)

4. Crash Racing 7/10 (I'm torn on this one. It's definitely a good game. I love Kart games in general and I have a love/hate with the Crash character since I worked on the first two Crash games years ago on the Playstation. For a Kart game on the iPhone it's good as is Cro-Mag, but I think better ones will be coming.)

5. Enigmo 7/10 (I really like this. Different idea on a puzzle game but can occasionally be frustrating, but that's sometimes the point on a good puzzler. The controls are also sometimes frustrating too as it's hard to grab on to the piece you want to move unless you zoom way in. But still a fun game.)

To sum up, I think Dizzy Bee and De Blob are a tie and to me, they are both must haves and are different enough than most of the games out there (though Dizzy Bee is a little similar to Loco Roco on the PSP which I also love. According to TouchArcade.com, when the Executive Producer of The Game Developers Conference was asked by Ars Technica what games in general he personally found exciting at E3, he pulled out the iPhone and showed Dizzy Bee!)

Crash is a good kart game but it's been done on other systems and done better (Mario Kart!) and hopefully better will come to the iPhone soon.

Trism and Enigmo are both great puzzlers if you are into that, though I sometimes get bored with puzzle games like these.

I hope that helps, I'm not really very good at writing reviews. Also, I am a big fan of clean futuristic looking vector graphics and as simple as it is, I'm really liking 3D Vector Pong... it's really making me hope someone ports over updated versions of Discs Of Tron and a Battlezone game!

It's all going to be over soon though for these games once Spore is released! imho

(just an fyi, not that this matters because it's all just my opinion and subjective, but I used to work in the video game industry as a Game Test Manager and Associate Producer, so I love gaming in general and have stated a couple of months back in another post somewhere here in MR that I think the iPhone is going to be the next great gaming platform... and so far it seems to be shaping up that way. Good news for us all.)
