I agree with the sentiment, "never pay MSRP", but it matters because iPads (Pro or non-Pro) do NOT get discounted "hundreds off" (the most by a retailer was $175 on the 12.9 Pro by Best Buy and Staples) and the benefits of any discounted price are lessened by a higher MSRP.Doesn’t matter. Wait and get one for hundreds off as they usually get discounted quickly.
I don’t think they will raise the price that much, it will turn people away from the iPad Pro and either towards an iPad 2018 or even a Mac. However I do think they may raise the price by about £100 to £150 for the new iPad Pro’s. The high end 512GB iPad Pro 2017 is already over a thousand pounds, I brought one last year and if they raise the price too much we will be talking about MacBook prices.
Another question is will they also raise the price of the accessories? Will the Apple Pencil and ASK get a price raise? I really hope they improve on the ASK keyboard it’s the one reason why I can fully move over to using just an iPad Pro as my main machine, I do a lot of long writing sessions and the ASK just isn’t comfortable or even practical for it.
Im going to venture a guess and say 800 as a good starting point and ill tell you why. The Iphone XR.
now lets say the new ipad has the same liquid Retina technology in it as the Xr. One would reason it would have to inorder to get the curved corners and i would venture simular cameras and a slightly better processor. (A12X)
The XR starts at 749. So i fugure that or 800 is a fair entry point.
Now lets keep in mind that they want the ipad pro to still be less then a macbook which i think retails for 1200 at the moment.
So id figure base models for both sizes would have to be 1000 or less
Now add your usual 100 dollars per higher storage and i think thats a resonable expectation.
Throw in 100 pecil, 160 keyboard (this year it would have to have a back cover if it is indeed connected to the back instead of the side
And u have a rough ballpark figure
I hope they charge 120€ for the mouse.![]()
In pure hardware horsepower, the iPad Pro is probably going to be superior to the MacBook in every way (besides maybe 2GB less RAM capacity) so it's a bit artificial if the MacBook is forever priced above the iPP just-because.
Once Apple goes ARM and stops paying the Intel-tax on laptop CPUs, I think we'll see a correction.
