After my laptop broke, I decided I wanted to replace it with a tablet. I have a desktop (PC) with a lot of storage where I download and store my HD movies, music and pictures/videos.

I really wanted to like the Surface Pro mostly because my desktop is a PC and because the stand is such a good feature, but after trying it for 2 days I came to the conclusion that the iPad is on another level. The surface sucks big time. IPad is the future. Windows 10 sucks on a tablet.

Anyway, I will buy either a 256 or 512 iPad Pro 12.9 tomorrow. Current specials have the 256 @ $849 and the 512 @ $999. The way I see it, there’s 2 ways to look at it: a) you’re paying $150 for 256gb (which seems outrageous) or b) you’re paying $3.31 per GB on the 256 vs $1.95 per GB on the 512. I think this is the lowest price per GB on any iPad ever.

Considering I have a desktop where I store all my movies and mp3’s, is the $150 worth the upgrade? I don’t think i’ll ever sell the iPad as I can pass it down to my wife when I’m done with it in 2-3 years. My movies are HD and range between 6-12GB/movie. My jazz collection is around 200GB.

Regardless of how you compute the value of the price, the bottom line is this: Do you need the space, if so, then get the 256GB model, if not then you can save your money.

Since you seem to be leaning towards storing your content on your the desktop computer, then why give apple 150 dollars more of your money for a feature that you'll not take advantage?
