My PC is dying so I wanted to replace it with a relatively inexpensive desktop. The mac mini would be a great option! I checked out Apple's refurb page and noticed something odd. The 1.66GHz is priced higher than the 1.83GHz, and almost the same as the 2.0GHz :confused:

So, I totally understand there was a time when the 1.66GHz was the top of the line mac mini. But to hold it at only a 19% discount off the original price seems a bit ridiculous considering there are newer models out...

Not sure if others have posted a similar thread. I hope not...

Fact is that Apple sometimes makes mistakes with their prices. In a case like that, don't buy the 1.6 GHz one. At some point in time they will figure out that they are not selling any. One possibility is that someone swapped the prices for 1.8 and 1.6 GHz - good opportunity to get 1.8 GHz cheap if that is the case.

I agree. The refurb. pricing is sometimes ridiculous.

They don't price the technology according to its age but instead take a specified percentage off of the original retail price. Those prices are way out of line.

It's so high because the it's so bitchin'.

Or is it that the 1.66 is the Mini that Steve uses?

Ive often wondered why the price is off like that, but the 1.83 did not have a superdrive and the 1.66 did. That in itself is a $200 difference in the retail versions.

Even saying that though, Ive seen 1.83 CD (not C2D) with superdrive priced almost $200 less than the 1.66.

My Mini is a 1.83 Core (1) Duo, Superdrive, 80gig HD, 512mb RAM and it was $479 in the store.

Some of the prices are completely out of touch with reality, but I'll bet people still buy them. Good for the stock!
