Print Center in Sonoma is terrible. Does anyone know how to remove. I installed Sonoma 14.0 and had nothing negative or positive to say until I went to Print. My HP LaserJet Enterprise M609 is capable of printing 75 ppm. I have had no problems printing 50 pages in less than a minute, never. And, with our other Mac running Ventura it is still possible. With "Print Center" it takes more than 15 minutes to print 50 pages (specifically 16 min. 22 sec.). It prints one or two pages and stops to "think" than it prints another page or two then stops again. This happens over and over again. Can it be removed? I tried without success and I contacted Apple. Apple has not responded, so I joined this site to find out if anyone can assist.

I've been having similar issues and it's completely vexing. I have no idea what the thinking was to replace individual printer icons with the Print Center, but I hate it, and at least one of my Brother monochrome laser printers is now working horribly via Print Center. I'm hoping 14.1 fixes the problem. I'm also perplexed to find so little written about it.

Print Center is only a user interface for the cups and the print system, if there is an actual issue, it's not caused by the Print Center app.
The actual issue is that I despise the new interface. They fixed something that was not broken, and made it worse.

I rarely print anything but now that you mention it, print is terribly slow. It takes like a minute to spit out the first page to my hp laser and sometimes it just hangs. I've removed the printer and added it back to no avail

I absolutely HATE this new interface. It absolutely does mess up printers, as I have a dedicated dye sublimation printer that printed on command without an issue before. Now I have to restart my program multiple times per work day because a functionality of the printing has been affected by it - confirmed by the developer after I emailed support asking them to troubleshoot. It's adding time onto every print job, as I also now need to "click" print instead of hitting enter. I can no longer hit enter and walk away - I have to remember to click the button .... years of doing it the same way and now I'm being forced to add time to each task.

Agreed - the number of clicks to access the printer or scanner is ridiculous. I have also found the following issues: 1. after scanning a multipage pdf, if you try and scan a second document it wont talk to the printer so you have to close print centre and try again. 2. when you open print centre and you have a folder selected already to save a scan (from previous use), it ignores that and saves it to Pictures anyway. Horrible !

I absolutely hate the new Print Center and the new Print Dialog windows with drop down menus since Ventura. I have a ton of presets using my Canon laser printer, but modifying any setting when printing is such grueling multistep mess, having to click each option open every single time.

As of Ventura, still in Sonoma, there have been certain printer settings and presets that don’t survive from print job to print job. I do a lot of printing onesies and twosies to labels and card stock. I use the manual feed on my HP printer. Even with a Label and Card Stock preset, my print jobs pull a regular sheet from Tray 2 (the 350-sheet paper tray). I have to manually select the manual-feed tray for each job.
