I have an HP 8000 hooked up with a USB cable. Ive tried disconnecting everything, retstarting, trying different ports, nothing is working. I also tried resetting the print system in system prefs, reinstalling the drivers as well. When I try to print the printer just sits there. Its always stuck on sending print data. I dont use this printer often but it used to work and I would get this problem once or twice every few months. I solved it just by restarting but now it wont go away.

Forgot to add I have the C2D 24" aluminum iMac. All software is up to date.

Did it ever work?

When you installed the software, were there any errors?

Does your iMac recognize that the printer is attached?

Last have you looked at the HP site, they have a GREAT knowledgebase. Also see if there is updated software and drivers at the HP site for your OS

Yes it did used to work. But I ususally get this problem if I dont use the printer for awhile. OSX recognizes it and says its fully operational but when I print something it just says sending print data. All of my software is up to date including the drivers from the HP site.

Hate those types of issues, usually it was solved on a brother printer by hitting pause, then clicking the same button again to start the jobs.

All I see in that folder is the icon for the printer. I just completely uninstalled and reinstalled all HP software and it still is not working.

edit: Just tried plugging the USB for the printer in my macbook, works fine there.

Does it tell you anything useful in Get Info for that icon?

Since it works on another Mac, there's hope.

Have you tried logging in under a different user account? If not, give that a shot and see if you can print.
