Does anyone have a recommendation for a wide format printer (11x17)?

We presently have a HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format.
Simply ... a piece of crap!

I own an HP OfficeJet 7000. I use it rarely, but I have never had any trouble with it. What problems do you have?

Usually if I try to print the paper will stop just under the print head. Then flash the paper feed lamp.
Some times it will print letter size ok. Some times it stop with paper under head. some times it prints but it takes 3-5 minutes per page and the output looks terrible.
When I print tabloid (11x17). It usually stops with paper under the head. Occasionally it will print really slow (5 minutes per page). A some times it will print properly.
Had to turn off detect media checkbox.

Running Window 7. Software doesn't detect any problem with printer.
IT department is dragging feet to deal with it.
Also its a pain to change paper (letter <-> tabloid).

Canon Pixma 9000 MKII.
Great printer and it can handle some really thick paper when needed. I think there is a Canon rebate going on for it so depending where you get it it ends up being about $200 when all is said and done. Last month you could find them for $150 after rebate.
Good luck

Well, I can't help you. I have used my OfficeJet with two Macs--my 2009 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and my 2005 Power Mac G5 running Tiger. I have used it with a direct USB connection and as a network printer. The only issue I ever had was with a rogue router on my network that is connected backwards. It competes with the legitimate DHCP server to issue IP addresses to the printer [and everything else]. That issue aside, the printer is as fast as any inkjet printer that I have ever used. I have none of your paper feed problems.

I am mystified by what you expect your IT personnel to do about your printer. In my experience, they tend to be [how we say] a little slow about Macs (and I'm not talking about speed). You appear to be unfamiliar with Macs. This being the case, you will be much better served by finding a Mac-using colleague to troubleshoot your printer.

In the meantime, make sure that you have the printer properly setup and that you have properly performed Edit/Page Setup... on your documents.
