I was rather disappointed to discover that I will not be able to use my printer/scanner with Sierra. This is not Apple's fault as such as Brother (I have a Brother MFC-8460-N all-in-one laser printer/scanner/copier/fax) has not released drivers for anything after OSX 10.10.x But everything worked when I was running El Capitan! Isn't there some way that Sierra can use drivers for older versions of MacOS? The printer I have is several years old and otherwise still going strong and I would rather not have to go and buy a new printer because I cannot use it.

Primarily, the Scanner function in Preview does not work. It has managed to print, but not to scan. Any suggestions?

Just checked out the website and apparently Brother does not support Sierra for that particular model of printer. Damn! Looks like I might actually have to get an old Mac Mini running El Capitan to act as the printer server.
