So I have an HP 1200 series printer hooked up to my G5 Quad and in the same network I have a Mac book (2.0 Ghz 1 gb ram, etc.)--and I can't get the macbook to print on the G5.

Both computers are connected via the airport through a wirless router (Also on the network are two PC's that have hard line connections)

I've made sure "printer sharing" is enabled ob both macs...and I've "added" the printer to the macbook....when I print from the macbook is sends the print but nothing comes out the printer....

I can print from the G5 with no problems at all...

To dash obvious questions: yes the printer is turned on, has paper and ink, and is for sure connected to the G5...

any sugestions? I'm new to the mac world....so be nice...

I've have this problem also.

A shared printer will print from a wireless LAN network with my mini but not the macbook. it just stopped working one day...

Are the latest drivers installed on both/all machines? :)

They were.....

The latest drivers are on the G5 (the mac the printer is hooked to) -- when I installed the driver on the macbook it kept asking me to configure the printer and when I would try that then it would say that there isn't a printer hooked to the computer, no kidding, so I deleted the driver so that danged window would stop popping up....I was never able to print at any point...

so to put it simply:
G5 has latest drivers
Macbook does not

still stuck....

Maybe put the drivers back on (you'll need them) configure the computer while it's attached to the MacBook. Then, put the printer back onto the G5 and configure the MacBook for network printing and select this printer setup as default. That should prevent the annoying window popping up. :)

well I installed the driver back on the mac book like you said...but in the print preferences on the macbook it listed both printers (the Hp one that I just intalled the drivers for and then the IP address of the other one) I still couldn't print so I started looking into the settings more....the shared printer (which I allready said is an HP 1200 all-in-one) was listed as a "HP Deskjet 1200c - Gimp-Print- v5.o.o-beta2"--I just asumed that was the right setting because I saw "HP" and "1200"---but there was not an option for my printers model so I changed it to the "Generic" option and guess what? It works fine....

so I un-installed the driver (off of the Macbook) and it still prints fine....

problem solved.....

another question though:

I like the printer I have on one of my PC's better (running windows XP)....apple support said there's no way to share a printer hooked to a PC with a mac, at least not with my current setup. all my computers are hooked through a Linksys 4 port wireless router, I don't know the model number off the top of my head. I there a way to have both my macs print through my PC?

Thanks again!
