I'm using an Epson C86 printer which has done its job perfectly ever since I first got it. But recently whenever I'd try to print, they'd come out very bad. I usually have to use Photo quality, and then it still comes out streakier than it should. And the worst thing is when I try to print in color, for some reason the Red ink never works. Red areas are always replaced with yellowish green. I'm assuming that this basically means that it is printing like it should, using the yellows and blues to mix with red and create the correct color needed- but I have no idea why the red is never reaching the paper.

btw- I know for a fact the ink is not empty.

Any reason why this might happen?

Did you try using the print head cleaning utility? Also you may have to align the print head. I don't have the exact same model but I think you should have the same utilities. Go to system preferences, then print & fax, then print queue. There should be an icon on the toolbar for "utility".

Yes, I tried both cleaning and realigning several times with no luck.
