May be the NY Times app itself. Assume you’ve subscribed to the Crosswords separately at $4.99/month or the annual.

I was doing them online myself but wasn’t consistent, so I canceled.

I’m on iPadOS 15.4.

You could try printing from the Seattle Times version of the NY Times crossword:

Why not take a screenshot of the page?

That's always a fail-safe way of printing what you're looking at.

Have you asked the NYT folks what's happening? Or, checked iTunes reviews to see if people are complaining?

Maybe they did an update and someone forgot to turn a toggle back on!
