So eventually got printing to work (sometimes not always) from Catalina 10.15.4 then it updated to 10.15.5 and now printing is messed up again. I have already been down the road of getting latest printer driver. So what has gone wrong now?
Luckily I have an iPad and printing (AirPrint) works fine but this Mac OS debacle is somewhat annoying to say the least. Anyone else having problems?

Yes. Did all that for version 10.15.4.
That’s my point. Do I really have to go through all that again cos Apple update to 10.15.5?

You’ve given us nothing to go on. How is anyone expected to help you? You haven’t even said what the problem is!

The last thread you started you were having an issue with the creation of PDF files. Is that the same issue you are having now? In the other thread you mentioned that you were using a Samsung m2070 laser, is that still the case?

Have you tried System Preferences->Printers & Scanners, select the printer, control-click with the mouse, select Reset printing system...?

Have you tried removing the printer from System Preferences->Printers & Scanners and add it back in again?

If you have not tried this yet, on the printer maybe do a reset of the printer itself. And what I mean by that is access the printer menu system and select reset printer.

The other thing you could try is booting into Recovery Mode, download and install the 10.15.5 full installer. This won't remove and user data, only refresh all the OS system files. I have seen this help others with issues they were having.

OK. Sorry if I have been vague. All I was trying to ascertain was whether or not others were having printing issues with the latest version of Mac OS. This is the exact same problem I had with my first installation of Catalina. So specifically, its using AirPrint which is problematic, wired is OK. All that is printed from any document regardless of type (pdf, plain text, whatever) is one line of gibberish on endless sheets of paper. Of course, I will go through all the resetting, looking for latest driver, same as I did last time. But why is this happening after Apple update the software? Is it due to my old printer (yes it is the m2070 laser)? Could it be that the update is overwriting the driver which worked with one of Apple's drivers that doesn't work?
So:
Mac mini 2018 recently purchased as Apple refurb
Samsung M2070 mono laser printer. Now supported by HP.
Catalina 10.15.5 installed.

N.B. Im going to have to get a new printer toner cartridge soon but if its the age of the printer which is not helping, then maybe I won't. Although I noticed on the HP website that this printer is now rebadged as an HP and is still on sale.
