Ok this is starting to drive me a bit crazy, as I don't usually need to print out entire pages. Does anyone know how to print a highlighted selection in safari or even a text document for that matter?

I've searched all around and tried everything I could think of, though with no luck. I installed firefox hoping to see if an option to 'print selection' appeared in firefox such as I have in my windows and linux laptops, but no luck, same printing menu.

Well, there is no default function as a part of OS X to print a highlighted area, but you can drag and drop to save text. Just highlight the text, click on it, then drag and drop it over the desktop or into a Finder window. It makes a little text thing that can't be edited. This could save you some paper in the end, unless you do need a hard copy, then this isn't the way you want to go. And when you are finished with the text, just drag it to the trash and delete it.

Remember, its non printable and non editable text document. Here is a pic.

I have been experiencing the same thing as you. I couldnt find that option and I use to use it alllll the time on my PC. What I have been doing is just copying the text and pasting it into textEdit and then print from there. Sucks but its the only option I see.
