Ok, This one is a tough one, I've been at it for a long time...

my Powerbook G4 is on a routed network along with a Windows XP PC. i also have a Canon MP760 all in one brand new printer, connected to the PC via USB, and shared according to windows. I have the drivers for the printer installed here on the powerbook, and I can print just fine when the Canon is attatched directly through USB.
When I go to add the printer on the network, i have no problem seeing it on the mac here, but the problem is when choosing what drivers to use for it. The drivers I have are not in the list, nor can I find them anywhere if I click "other..."
Bearing in mind that the mac drivers I have are an installer package thingy, can anyone suggest how to sort this?

I have tried using some of the "generic" printers in the list, but printing does not work with these.
Thanks for any help,

Ed

what form do the drivers take? do they come with OS9 drivers in the form of a .ppd file? if so you can choose this file as "other" (copy it first, into your documents folder or somewhere where you know where it is!).
Some printers don't have .ppd files any more tho - i was in a similar situation with a USB Brother MFC hooked onto an XP box, but after installing the drivers on the mac as tho it was connected, restarting and then going to "add" new printer and choosing it under "windows printing", the new drivers came up.

I second that what was said above because I've experienced the same problem and after finding the installation for the mac....the driver installed.... i rebooted my PB and it was in the list as one of my choices the next time. I don't know if the reboot did the charm or if the driver being installed... but my windows printing eventually found it.

The driver is a .pkg installer, I have (several times now) installed this, and rebooted (it forced me to) but the printer is still not appearing in the list of drivers I can use for the windows printer. I can also not direct it to the .pkg installer, it just resets to "generic". The stupid thing is that when I find it on the network, it recognises the model and make and everything!
I really can't get my head round this one, can anyone else help?

Thanks
Ed
