I have a Canon PIXMA iP5000. Is there any way, while having this printer plugged into my AirPort Express Base Station, to change the Utilities, check the ink level, change the print quality, etc...?

You may want to contact Cannon support for those questions. They sound more closely related to the actual printer then the Mac.

I have an ip3000, and I'm pretty sure that you and I use pretty much the same kind of cartridge. there is no way to check levels because the cartridges are just ink wells. (and WOW! they are sooo easy to refill, just be careful. I've ruined 2 pairs of jeans refilling.)

I've noticed that I can't do utility stuff via AirPort, but I just pick up my PB and plug it in via USB when I need to, once every few months. I've found that I never really had to align the cartridges because it's one print head with four different ink wells.

*shrugs* that's all I can tell ya.
