Printing problems with images from Mail

I'm having an issue with printing images in an email from Apple's Mail program. It's a gmail account and I have tried to print from both Mail and the gmail web interface. All of the text is fine but when the images are printed they come out not necessarily pixelated but in bands of color (see photo). I have checked the images that are sent in the email and I believe that they are jpgs saved as progressive. Other images print fine that are in emails. If it is having an issue with progressive jpgs, is there anything that can be done for them to print properly?
