I'm a bit baffled by this. Every time I scan something from my HP PSC 1610 Printer onto my ibook, it looks normal (black & white), but for whatever reason, when I print out the scan, it comes out GREEN. Why is this?

Also, isn't there a way within Mac printer preferences to only print in B&W?

I know exactly what you mean. The computer tries to use some color ink to enhance the image, and a lot of the time it ends up looking green. You can look in the printer utility in system preferences, but each printer is different, and I'm not experienced with your printer. I usually just give up on doing this via software and rip (figuratively of course :p ) the color cartridge out.

i find I have the option to print in B&W or color. It's on the "print settings" menu.

I have been using this printer in uni. I haven't had this problem and all I can suggest is you try printing out a non scanned photo and if that comes out green then you know your ink cartridge is out.
