I think Apple is just mocking us all at this point.

P.S. And for the super cynics - that's an actual screen grab from their website.

Exactly where is that screenshot taken from?
The main iPhone 13 landing page. I'm not sure if they are being cheeky or just made an honest mistake.

When compared to Google and the Wild West of every app developer being able to track you through all your other apps and actions it seems a bit more private.

If it wasn’t you wouldnt see companies like snap and Facebook complaining about it impacting their bottom line.

So it does matter.

Naturally, people will bitch regardless.

I’m fresh from Android btw, still in my return window fresh. I’m not an iOS die hard.

There was a time when Apple's USP was Innovation, that was the Steve Jobs era, then came the Tim Cook era, it really was about incremental updates and with his tight control and supply chain expertise, he did introduce a lot of consistency to a company that innovated but had no clear direction.

In the post Cambridge Analytica and Edward Snowden world, Apple latched to User Privacy and also Data Security.
So they definitely have done a lot to move the entire industry to take attention, but it's really more about changes that are visible to users, and not really about fixing the core issues with the online advertising industry. There was a time when Apple was an industry leader that defined where the tech world moved next. Now it's just busy building and expanding its eco system and ensuring the ecosystem appears to be safe. But because these products still need to use a lot of technologies that can't be controlled or influenced by Apple, it's still not as secure out there as Apple claims it to be.

Look up these keywords to know more - Pegasus, CSAM, Siri Recording Voice logs, FBI - Apple Encryption dispute.

1. I thought it was funny.
2. That's too many letters.
3. Tim Cook is clearly on team government.
4. No such thing as privacy on the internet; best you'll get is anonymity.
5. All the alternatives suck or are have worse privacy policy.
6. I do agree that this is a crappy situation for consumers. but what can we do?

It says "Privacy is built in". :) The letters change from password dots to letters as you scroll down, so if you stop part way you get the above

It is still there. I scroll down the letters “built in.” revealed. I scroll up and the letters go back to”*********”. This is using Safari.

What browser are you using?

Pretty funny that you first reveal, “Privacy is built in” and then back it up to show it the way you want it. Does not support, in any way, what you are attempting to claim. It smacks a bit childish. You even have it wrong in the thread title.

I just tried it on my 2015 13" MacBook Pro, running Catalina 10.15.7, using Safari 15.1, and it works in that for me. What version of Safari are you using?
