I'm looking for a reliable Macbook that I could use for coding and considering the keyboard issue I'm scared to buy an expensive Macbook Pro because I'm not a rich guy and I value my money, so I know I'll be angry if I experience those keyboard issues everyone talks about.
So the choice has come down to these two, the 13 inch Pro version from 2015 which has the old school keyboard but a bit dated processor or the new Air with the third generation keyboard.

I'm no expert in Macs since i'm a lifetime Window laptops user so I'd appreciate your advice.

Thanks

I have the 2015 13”. It’s slingtly faster than the current Air but not hugely so. I love mine, but would cringe at paying full retail for it now. Used though, I’m sure there are some good bargains around, just ensure you verify battery life and run diagnostics.

A new Air will of course allow you to get AppleCare. I didn’t buy it on my 2015 but I would on any of the new models.

In terms of reliability, if the 2015 is in good shape I think it’s the winner. But you didn’t provide prices and specs, so take that for what it’s worth.
