I purchased a usb C to usb adapter but when I plug it in it does not charge, why is this? Pro 11 inch ipad

The USB port may not output enough power or the adapter is defective. Do you have a USB charger you can try plugging in to check?

The iPP requires a USB-PD (PowerDelivery) complient charger. These have internal logic to negotiate the voltage and current to provide. Classic USB-A chargers don't have this logic. Some have various proprietary "fast charge" ability that is similar to USB-PD but less capable. I've not seen any that can adapt to charging devices needing the USB-PD logic and the necessary higher voltages that USB-PD needs.
