I'm very interested in the Apple Pro Apps Bundle for Education purely because it has Final Cut Pro X and Pro Logic X. I want to learn video editing and switch from Reaper to PLX for my voice over recordings. I was about to make the purchace but held off becasue nothing prompted me to confirm if I was a student, and from reading online it sounds like only current students or teachers can buy it discounted. Nothing on the apple website was stopping me or asking to confirm if I am a current student, so is it wrong for me to buy it or would that cause issues down the line? I was a student but not currently, I called Apple Support and the agent I spoke to wasn't sure if it would cause issues, and before that I had a chat support agent who said I could so I'm very confused.

I have no problem playing $200 for those apps together, I've been having a tough time picking out editing/recording softwares tailored for Mac users and these sound like a good fit for a newbie, outside of the bundle they both add up to $500 and for apps that's a bit steep for me, it seems like a better deal considering most other high-end editing software is usually $300+ on average. I'd like to begin learning and teaching myself these new skills but I'm just weary to get them becasue I'm not currently a student. i'm afraid it would cause problems, can someone clear this up for me? I haven't found any specific answers to this kind of scenario and could use the advice.

I purchased mine when I was still affiliated with a university and don't recall having to furnish any information to Apple. Simply go to the education store and buy the bundle.

I've been using them since and haven't had any issues. Once you activate them, the apps will be available for you to download from the App Store on any device.

As for the moral question of ordering the bundle if you're not buying it for school, that is a question only you can answer.

My concern is it it breaks any rules, as for morality it's not like I'm pirating anything. I'm trying to learn new skills and further my starting career and support myself so that's not a bad thing for what they are being used towards.

There are no rules that will prevent you from using the software, if that's what you're trying to say. Apple's education store has always been run on an honor system. What you'll get is the full suite of tools, same as if you purchased it without the educational discount. What you do is entirely up to you.

Do you have to have an .edu email to get the keys and activate the software? My son is 13 and in middle school and wants to learn these apps, but I don't want to pay full price, he has a school email account but its only allowed to get emails from within the same school domain name, so he wouldn't get the codes sent to that email they have to come to mine. Just curious how strict they are on the .edu and verification stuff for this bundle?

Apple in the United States now requires that current students, teachers, and staff members verify their eligibility for education discounts through UNiDAYS. UNiDAYS is a website specialized in providing education customers with discounts for products and services by confirming their enrollment in an educational institution.
