can you tell me if the imac works with a pro tools HD system? We are looking to get one for another studio in our facility. Is anyone have experience with this ?

I'm _not_ a ProTools expert, but doesn't the "HD" version of ProTools require the use of PCI cards that are installed _inside_ the computer?

If that's the case, you need a "tower" type Mac with expansion slots.

The iMac has none and it won't work.

There is an "audio" sub-forum here on macrumors where your question might be better-addressed. You should also check over at gearslutz.com.

I'm a Pro Tools user, not HD though. But yeah, the above poster is right. You can use Pro Tools 9 with the iMac, but not Pro Tools 9 HD.

Fortunately, as of version 9, Pro Tools non-HD 9 does most everything HD does, including delay compensation.
