Proactive does not work for me...

I have never once received a traffic notification, and I keep a regular schedule. On top of that, I never get app suggestions in the lower left of the lock screen, the only time I get them is when I connect to a Bluetooth device, or when they are geographically triggered (Starbucks and Target, etc.). Finally, nothing is ever added to my "from mail" calendar. I do get a prompt to add a calendar event or contact at the top of an email, but I don't believe the add to calendar feature from email is working as advertised.

I have scoured the net and I believe all my settings are correct.

I have to, despite not wanting to, come to the conclusion that it just doesn't work very well.

I really want a more proactive piece of tech. I'm hoping Apple will find a way to do this a la Google Now. I understand that that service leverages the cloud more, and as such is worse for privacy. But I am OK with that, and I hope Apple can find a way to compromise, to give us better features.

Does any of this work reliably for you? Any screen shots would be cool to see as I like to see how it should work.

1) The calendar event needs to include an address
2) Location services need to be enabled (Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services.)

Frequent Locations: To learn places that are significant to you, your iOS device will keep track of places you have recently been, as well as how often and when you visited them. This data is kept solely on your device and won't be sent to Apple without your consent. It will be used to provide you with personalized services, such as predictive traffic routing.

Location Based Alerts: Your iOS device will use your location to provide you with geographically relevant alerts, such as a reminder to call someone when you get to a specific place or when to leave for your next appointment based on where you currently are.

I kinda feel the same way. Mail is the first app I open when I wake up in the morning and I know the phone is capable of picking up on that and presenting that on the lock screen and the app switcher (with the "Good Morning, Daniel" greeting). I use a 6, if that matters.

Hold on. When does it say good morning and why am I not seeing this?

I'm in the US on the latest hardware with the the latest software.

As part of Proactive Siri in iOS 9, if you consistently use a certain app at a certain time of day, it will suggest it to you on the lock screen or in the app switcher at those times. When you open it, there's a tab at the bottom that directs you to an app (for example, if it worked the way I believe it does, I would get a message at the bottom of the app switcher with the Mail app and the message "Good Morning" when I unlock my phone in the morning).

I've never seen a greeting like this. Does anyone have a screenshot?
 
Proactive worked great for me.
I have a cheap earphone, and every time I plug it to headphone jack, I will almost always play my game. Now app suggestion automatically suggest that game when I plug in.
And because location service is on, I will also be suggested to, say, listen to music or play that game when headphone is plugged in.
About that "good morning", I saw this before when I opened Twitter very often right after I woke up. But now I don't see it, yet.
Maybe, I just need to give it more time to learn my life pattern.
 
This feature never worked consistently for me even after months so I just shut it off to save the battery life.

Is Proactive the name of an app or are you asking for Siri to be more proactive? Siri can't do all the same things as Google now because Apple doesn't data mine users.

A) I'm asking Siri to work as advertised
B) I think the data mining term is a bit strong
C) I wouldn't mind the trade off of giving up more information to have more functionality

iOS can/should certainly be able to do what it was designed to do (as part of iOS 9).
 
Proactive has been so spotty for me that I’ve forgotten it’s supposed to do some of the things mentioned here. My feeling is that it should have a settings tab all its own. There are so many places in settings a user can make a change and mess it up without realizing it.
