But i'm about to be a first time iMac owner (yay!) and i was wondering if the upgrade from 2.8ghz to 3.06ghz is really worth the money? I plan on going to 4gb of ram.. and i know Mac's usually run much faster on less RAM than a PC, and my current PC is 3.25gb of ran and runs perfectly. The biggest app i really plan on running is probably Photoshop. Any opinions on this is appreciated greatly.. same for opinions on anything else i should know about getting my first Apple computer.. thanks!

You'll notice the extra RAM more than the processor bump. DON'T BUY THE RAM FROM APPLE.

Why buy a Mac if your current PC runs perfectly? Don't beat me up, I'm just kidding! You would do better in the short term with the RAM, but it can always be upgraded whereas the CPU cannot.

See.. that was my original thinking of the CPU Vs RAM deal. But i'm not so sure now that i've thought about it a bit more. I really won't use it for running many big apps.. so i might just do neither, and upgrade RAM later on.. and i'm glad you were joking about that.. F a PC. haha. I'll admit, i hated the idea of a Mac until my friend had me watch the guided tour of Leopard. From that day on, i've been an Apple-addict.. lol.

Why I always suggest 3.06 is that iMac is a closed case system which means you will not be able to upgrade it. If you buy a system to serve you more than 1-2 years then I would defo go 3.06. Not a big price difference and you get a better GPY and those extra few GHz that will hold itself a little longer.
If you work with Photoshop then the more ram the better. You will feel the difference just DO NOT BUY IT FROM APPLE.
Go to www.macsales.com and you'll save yourself quite nice amount of $$.
