I'm new to macs, only having my imac for a couple weeks now and what I want to know is, when leopard comes out, and I buy it and install it, will i have to reinstall my apps and everything? Will I still have all my files or will I need to back everything up? Will my wallpaper and custom icons still be there? Thanks.

Everything will stay where it is if you choose the upgrade install.

Some people like do a fresh install with each new OS release, but it can be a fair bit more work, so don't feel that you need to go that far.

ok, thanks. so the upgrade install deletes tiger though? Or is tiger still gonna be there somewhere taking up space on my hdd?

It replaces tiger - so no, Tiger won't be somewhere taking up space on your hard drive.

I do believe you can leave it there if you want to, or install right over it. If you choose to leave it there, you can always delete it later on.
