problem after update 10.5.5 and coolbook

Hi, i have a very big problem after update tp 10.5.5 in my macbook air.

i do the update with coolbook active.... and when restart... the system dont pass over 800mhz at 50ºC and all the system go very slow.

i tried to active again coolbook, restart, but coolbook dont work....

so now i have that problem.... my 1,8 macbook air dont pass over 800 mhz...

what can i do??

I know for a fact the Macbook air update had several warnings about uninstalling and not using in the future any Programs that altered CPU and other motherboard temp settings. so that must be what they had made that warning about..

uninstall coolbook driver (go into settings and click uninstall)

then your mba will be stuck at 1200mhz, now reinstall coolbook, latest version, and your mba will be at full power again

yea, do as pointed out above. Next time there is an update to the operating system just take the time to disable coolbook first (remove the mark at "coolbook active" (you'll have to enter your password and restart)) and then install the update.

I originally updated to 10.5.5 via Software Update, and it worked fine.

I can't remember if there was a reboot in between, but "suddenly" my MBA started behaving badly like what the OP described when I brought it out of sleep after coming home from work.

I uninstalled CoolBook, requiring a reboot, and that did the trick. I then tried to reinstall CoolBook and that worked, but on the reboot, it reverted back to the "slow as molasses" state, so I had to uninstall it again.

I then reinstalled the 10.5.5 update using the combo updater, reinstalled CoolBook, and now everything seems to be fine.

I had forgotten to turn up Coolbook when installing 10.5.5. After the restart, my MBA felt pretty hot. Checked coolbook and observed it was turned off. i bet the update turned off Cookbook. I re-checked both boxes and re-started, everything is back to normal.

I had observed the problems reported in this thread when installing the MBA Update a couple of weeks ago. Coolbook wouldn't function even when it is turned on. A couple of tries of uninstalling and re-installing coolbook and a couple of restarts had fixed the problem.

The key thing to check if your laptop feels unusually hot is

1. Is the frequency ramping up when using the CPU (try playing with the dock)
2. Is the computer using the reduced voltage setting specified in Cookbook?

If answers to one of the above is no, then your coolbook is not working. Uncheck the "coolbook active" box and restart. Then check the box back and re-start.
