I have the original 11" iPad pro (2018). When I plug in the USB-C cable, it is very difficult to make the iPad charge. I have to try multiple times, and put the iPad the right way. This happens with multiple cables and chargers. Any suggestions? I don't want to buy a new iPad just because the USB-C port has issues. Thanks.

It sounds like the port is either damaged or there is lint/fluff blocking the port. Have a look with a torch and some tweezers.

The charging port may be messed up, maybe a repair shop in town can swap it. A few years back my daughters iPad was messing up and a place at the mall swapped out some the screen or something, I can't remember, and got it working again for a few more years.

Would it be possible to clean it?
Depends on what's inside. Usually it's just lint or something that a tooth pick can get out. Other times it's syrup that's solidified into a rock hard mass and yeah that might be a bit more difficult to clean. Gunna need to take a look and see if you can see anything obstructing the charge port. If not, it could just be a loose USB C connector and in that case, kind of out of luck there. :/

you can try cleaning it like the iphones

I would think the different from an iPhone is that if you keep your phone in your pocket, lint etc. can get into the port. But an iPad usually cannot accumulate dirt like that. Mostly my iPad is out in the open, occasionally in a bag. I wonder if it's more likely that it's worn. I read that you can replace the port, but Apple charges a lot.

the dirt can get accumulate each time you plug in to charge it , or when its in your bag, or some smoke from your kitchen.. This is an 2018 ipad so its been a couple of years... so try to clean it first, if that does not work then you might need to change the port.

Dirt and dust build up in the port is more likely than you would think. The fact it works when move it around suggests there is likely compacted buildup at the bottom. Try using a tooth pick to lift out any debris.
