Okay, so I've been set the task of jailbreaking and unlocking my friends US iPhone which was bought with 1.1.1 installed. He promptly installed 1.1.2 after he bought it rendering it pretty damn useless.

I've attempted to downgrade the firmware through iTunes, via the Option-Restore method but I keep getting the error message below.

Any help please.

Also, the phone has never been activated.

UPDATE: I've been trying to downgrade for the past two hours and all I'm getting is the error message shown in the third attachment. I'm now honestly thinking this phone is completely bricked.

Suppose to be error 1015 if it's done properly...

Try restoring to 1.1.2 and then try to downgrade 1.1.1 again. Perhaps your copy of firmware is bad, try redownload. You might have to set the computer or iPhone to Never sleep.

I followed that guide and got my firmware from ModMyiFone, eg. Direct from Apple, and it's still sat here asking to be connected to iTunes.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried and it restored to 1.1.2 successfully but it just won't take 1.1.1. It's the enigma of the iPhone world.
