Running macOS Big Sur. In the past week or so, after writing an email message and before sending, my display to into the "running ball" or whatever it called, where it gets stuck. I can't even access Force Quit using what I thing is the key stroke (option-command-escape).

After "mousing" around, I finally get access to Force Quit where it tells me mail is not responding. When I finally get it to close, I've lost my proposed email.

Mail is the app with which I have the most problem. It doesn't "force quit", and many times I have to go into Terminal and "kill" the process. I have reported the issue using Feedback, and recommend you doing the same.

Also, since my primary e-mail address is a Gmail one, I use a Gmail-oriented app and only occasionally use the stock Apple e-mail application.

Thanks for the reply. I use both outlook and gmail. I have too many email accounts that I'm trying to say good bye to. This morning I got an email saying I had to "upgrade" my hotmail account or it would be cancelled in 24 hours. Scam? And I have to say I hate the new layout with the Apple e-mail application. I'm fine with the "favorites All boxes and All Sent", but I find all the other options confusing. Maybe I should toss anything to do with Outlook but I've had password problems with Gmail also.
