Hello

I have made a USB stick with OSX 10.13 which works fine installing High Sierra onto my MacMini and MBP but refuses to install on my Mac Pro 6,1 - even after re-creating the USB several times.

Can anyone please suggest how I can install High Sierra onto my MacPro with a formatted Samsung 961 NVME.

Only High Sierra has the drivers to work non-Apple NVME SSD's therefore I can not load Sierra / El Capitan etc and upgrade from there.

Please advise

Thanks :)

It is hard to troubleshoot with so little information. Can you explain what "refusing to install" means? For example, the thumb drive won't boot? Or it does boot but doesn't see the NVME drive? Or it does see the drive, but the installer fails? Etc.

What adapter are you using? Some of the common adapters are pretty bad.

Does the NVME drive work otherwise? Like, you've been able to see it and format it? Or it works on another computer?

If you never install HS onto your 6,1, may be firmware is the issue.

In that case, you better put the original SSD back in and run the installer from there. So that the firmware upgrade can be done safely.

Once you finish the firmware upgrade. You may try again to clone the HS to the new SSD, or make a clean installation.

Hello

Thanks for your reply

Doing so I encounter another issue, all of the OSX 10.13 USB Installers I create require OSInstall.mpkg to be manually copied over and I do not have a USB to NVME adapter to do so.

I have installed an original Apple 256GB SSD which has OSX 10.13.2 copied to it and it runs, but only offers an update to 10.13.3 (1.5GB) - will this contain the firmware upgrade ?

How else can I obtain the necessary firmware upgrade ?

Thankyou

The thumb drive boots and gets to the Installation of High Sierra, but the progress bar rapidly progresses and then the system just reboots without having installed anything.

Using the latest Sintech adapter, and my NVME (1TB Samsung 961) is clearly visible is Disk Utility and correctly formatted.

Thankyou

PS. I have also resett the PRAM and SMC

B11 looks like a very old boot ROM to me.

You may try to download the full HS installer from Appstore and run it.

Hello

Bit of an update here, OSX 10.13.3 now installed but will not restart (flashing folder icon) and I really need the ability to restart for my work.

I have tried this with 1 x Samsung 960 EVO, 2 x Samsung PM961 but all encounter the same problem.

Sintech adapter Latest (no tape) + Latest Firmware installed

Would anyone be so kind to advise ?

Is this an issue with the drive mounting ? I had some trouble getting the drives to appear in disk utility at installation, which required a PRAM reset.

Many Thanks

Install from Internet recovery?

The PM961 in my Mac took a few reboots to show up in the recovery then I restored from time machine. Boot up takes a few minutes with Samsung SSD.
