Might be a long post so apologies
Story is I picked up a faulty 27" Imac which was originally a mid 2010 model which had a dead hard drive
Upon opening it up to replace the hard drive, the display port connector snapped off so I had to replace the logic board with a late 2009 (A1312) model (Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHZ)
I replaced the dead hard drive with a 4TB Seagate Barracuda which is detected and works with disk utility
This included 4gb of ram (1067mhz). Problem is even though I checked this mac should support High Sierra natively without having to use the patcher
Have tried multiple different attempts to install High Sierra with the same result, installation seems to compete OK but upon rebooting the apple logo with loading screen shows with the bar getting to like 3/4 full then a spinning white wheel appears for a few seconds and after a couple of mins freezes
Have left the system on for a while but nothing changes
I have already successfully installed Sierra and Mavericks and everything works as it should, but as this is a 2009 I can't use internet recovery to install HS only a bootable USB
Any ideas? Or should I just stick with Sierra?
