I am hoping someone will chime in with some advice. Recently I have been unable to log into youtube to be able to comment and save videos to watch later. When I try to sign in to youtube I get the arrow wheel that just won't quit. I have deleted history several times.I have also shut down and unplugged my iMac.
Interestingly I can access Google settings on the Google page, just not Youtube.
I was thinking I would like to try to delete the cache on just youtube and perhaps Google. But I am not sure I want / should dump all of my cache.
I am running El Capitan 10.11.6 I hope someone will take the time to help this old guy out.I don't know where to find and delete just the cache for youtube. Please and Thank you.

Probably the easiest thing to try is to download firefox and try youtube in firefox. Also, generally if you log into google you should automatically be logged in to YouTube. Are you logged into google? Try going to google.com and logging in there. You could clear all browser cache data as well. There's no harm in this. I think you have to go to settings in safari, go to advanced and enable develop menu to clear caches. Once this menu appears you should see this clear caches functionality. Don't think you can easily just clear the youtube caches. You might want to consider updating the OS as well but to solve this you should be able with the info I have given. Try logging into google.com first then clearing caches then installing firefox if the step before doesnt work. You might also try logging out of google and then log back in.

Thank you for your reply. I'd like to avoid firefox. It's interesting that I am logged into Google. When I hover the cursor over my initial in Google it brings up my info and I can click on it and access. But not in Youtube. It seems like something changed, possibly a setting on my Mac. I did log out and back into Google. It's weird that Google works and the youtube doesn't.

This might work in Safari. Give it a try, takes only a few seconds.

1. Open Safari Preferences
2. Go to the "advanced" pane
3. At the bottom, put a check into "show develop menu in menu bar
4. You now have an extra menu up top
5. In the develop menu, choose "Empty Caches". This clears all Safari caches.

Now try loading the YouTube page again.
No promises.
Does it work...?

Final thoughts...
If it DOESN'T work, you may have to accept that the version of Safari in El Cap is just getting too old (like me) to run some pages any more.
Hmmm ... what VERSION of Safari do you have?
I believe there was an "updated" version of Safari for El Cap that is downloadable by way of a "standalone installer". But tell us which version you have first.

If you don't want to use Firefox (I don't use it that much), I can recommend:
- iCab
- Brave
- Epic privacy browser.

Thank you for your reply I am beginning to believe it might be that El Cap is outdated. It would be a good excuse to get a new 27" Mac. I will let you know. But really Thanks again!
