My recent attempt to rectify the poor performance of my verizon fios actionet router has ended up causing me more problems than it's worth.

Recently I changed the dns settings according to some suggestions I found on here, which still allowed my MacBook pro's connection to the router to work. Then today I decided to reset the router by pushing the pencil hole point on the back for 10 seconds. After it rebooted, my MacBook pro would not connect to the router (WORSE!)

But oddly enough, the iPad and iPhone still connect to it.

I have tried a range of things including rebooting the computer, resetting the router again, removing the wep password, changing the network name, copying the ip and dns settings from my iPad into the airport settings of my Macbook pro, and deleting com.apple network and airport settings in my library. Oh and I changed back my dns settings to the originals.

Nothing is working. My Mac sometimes recognizes that my network is out there, will connect seemingly but then says network connection timed out and will not open webpages. Sometimes it doesn't show the network among other neighbor networks. This is maddening, and even more so that it's probably an easy commonsense fix.

Any ideas? Thank you!

MBP and router disconnect

@Nozaril
I have had similar issues with AEBS and TC using TWC modem in the last week. I had to reset my modem and change the name of the network essentially redoing everything and now I have wireless access but have not put the whole network back together.
I would try the following.
1. Try connecting directly via ethernet to the router.
2. If you are able to connect via ethernet but not by wireless perhaps your wireless card in your MBP is defective.
3. I disabled Airport and connected via ethernet and using DHCP obtained an IP address for my MBP and then changed my wired ethernet to a manual address and connected to the internet.
4. I then disconnected ethernet, rebooted the router and turned on Airport and it synced up for me.
Hope this helps. Please post results.
