I'm trying to restore my iPhone because my T-Mobile sim card stopped working the day after I unlocked it. Anyways I when I get the iPhone into restore mode, I don't know how to restore it with the 1.0.2 restore firmware .ipsw file I downloaded. Because iTunes wants me to update to the latest software in order to restore. (I don't want 1.1.1 yet, and yes, I did the option + click on restore)

Specs:
iPhone Firmware: 1.0.2
Want to restore to: 1.0.2
iTunes: 7.4.2 (4)
Platform Mac OS X Tiger (latest)
Machine: Powermac G5

Try this.. Just guessing.

1 . Close iTunes
2. Unplug iPhone from Computer
3. Restart Computer
4. Plug iPhone back in
5. Keep iTunes closed
6. Hold down power button and home button for exactly 10 seconds (Even after the screen goes black), after the ten seconds let go of the power button.. you should still be holding the home button.
7. while still holding the home button, open up itunes.
8. iTunes should alert you that there is an iPhoen in restore mode. (you can let go of the home button)
9. Option + Click restore..
10. Select the restore file. (try and redownload the file: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...70821.vormd/iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw)

if that doesn't work, then im out of ideas.

Yeah I don't know, doesn't work for me. What version of iTunes do you guy all have? It seems to me like it's an iTunes issue. It just goes straight to asking me to update.

Got It!!!

Well, I finally fixed it. I just re-downloaded the 1.0.2 restore file and BINGO!
