Problem Syncing 3G

I just got a 3GS. Took my old 3G and restored as a new phone. Activated the 3G with a sim card from another phone on my family plan. When I try to sync the phone now, it copies apps fine, but when it goes to copy movies, it completely locks up my laptop. Have to completely power it down and reboot. Laptop is HP with win7 ultimate (please no buy a mac comments). I'm taking a party bus to the fiesta bowl sunday and just want to be able to watch movies on the 3G. I've tried to sync with and without the sim card installed. Had no problems syncing the phone before. My wifes 3G syncs fine still.

have you tried turning it off then back on again?
