Hi I am new and I have recently had problems trying to upload photo's from from my Nikon camera, it worked up until a month ago and now it just won't do anything. I have to tale my card out of the camera and then it will accept the upload, don't know if it is a Photo problem or my camera.. it is only 7 months old so fairly new.

Not answered my question about not even being able to transfer photo's from my Nikon camera to my Macbook Pro anymore. I was able to until about 2 months ago and now I can't.My camera is only 7 months old so I don't think it is the problem... please help.. by they way I can put my sd card from the camera into my mac, but not by the cable, it is a pain really, but if it can't be resolved I will have to put up with it.

After copying your images to the mac, do you format your SD card in the camera? If not, try this first.

Also, when your camera is connected and powered on, it should appear in the System Information app, under Hardware/USB.

So if you transfer the card it works, but if you use the cable it doesn't?
Personally I always use the SD card in a card reader method.
Have you tried a different cable? Could be that simple.

Is it because your USB settings in the camera have changed away from mass storage to MTP or something???

OP...

My opinion only, but I think it's actually easier to:
a. Take the card OUT OF the camera
b. Put it into a card reader (or insert into the Mac's SD card reader, if that works)
c. Import the new pics into the Mac.

This is my preferred way of doing things.
Might be easier if the camera you have supports wifi transfers (but mine doesn't).

I just go with "what works best for me…"

Camera is new so that it wouldn't be a Mass storage issue smh

You can try another cable and also check to see if your MBP recognizes that you have connect a camera by opening Image Capture. Make sure your MBP is updated with the latest Camera update. Btw what camera are you using?
