Recently purchased a MP had connection issues with my monitor. I originally thought it had to do with the Apple DVI-Thunderbolt adapter but tried it with a DVI to HDMI cable and the problem is worse.

When I wake the MP from sleep I notice that it takes a few seconds before it connect to peripherals. For instance, if I have an email notification I hear it through the MP internal speaker rather than my connected speaker system. That goes away though and within ten seconds my external speakers are connected again. The major issue is the monitor (NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi). I see the it wake, stay black, look for a signal and then go back to sleep again. I have to pull the cord out and switch thunderbolt inputs and then twist the the cord until the screen pops back up. Once that happens I dont have any issues until I put the computer back to sleep. With the HDMI cable the monitor doesn't wake at all.

Very frustrating and surprising since this is a brand new computer. Didn't have a single issue between this monitor and my old MP.

Do you have the latest firmware and software updates?
