I wanted to clean install my laptop. I have reformatted/ erased the hard drive on my MacBook Pro mid 2009, 2.66 Gh SD. Everything was just fine as I followed the steps until problem came out. The installation was stop at 28 % progress (I can't remember the message from pop up window).I have another OSX snow leopard installation disc which comes with my iMac. Then restart with that disc but the installation window said "this OS disc can not be installed on this computer". Would it be just a bad installation disc? Please help..

I'm a rolling stone.
No, not all disks run on all macs, the disk which said it can not be used on this computer is a disk for an iMac, that's why you got the error.
I would once more try the first one, also, are you sure you erased/reformatted right, it should be GUID Partition Map, not Apple Partition Map.

Make sure the installer disk is clean and scratch-free and start over. I've seen installs and even upgrades to SL hang. With the upgrades, I was able to restart the process and the installer seemed to be picking up from where it left off.

Updating from 10.5.8

Currently running 10.5.8 on a MacBook, just purchased Snow Leopard on disc but the disc spontaneously ejects without mounting. Might there be a problem with the disc?

Truly, I am not a computer person. I can not remember the step I have done. Just followed the installation guidance printed from apple website. I have done this once before and had no problem.
