Problem with 3G data

I have a 3GS. EDGE and WIFI work fine but when I turn 3G on nothing that requires data works. I've tried turning on airplane mode and it doesn't do anything. Rebooting the phone works for a few minutes but it always goes out again. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?

I am having this same exact issue with my 3GS. I've restored the phone via iTunes and it works for a bit, but then stops. Like you, EDGE and WiFi work, it's just 3G refuses to cooperate.

I'll have to add my name as well. I have a 3G that, beginning a couple of weeks ago, seems to go in and out of being able to transmit/receive 3G data. Often by going into Settings and toggling Airplane mode on and off, the 3G connection will be restored for a time. Very odd, and frustrating. Could this be a network issue from AT&T? W-Fi is unaffected.
