Problem with battery (well, not sure really)

Hi,

My battery appears normal - it's reading 100% right now and all green lights light up on it. However, when I unplug the power the machine shuts down immediately. It's like it doesn't have a battery plugged in. It doesn't just go to sleep, it shuts off completely when the power cord is unplugged. It doesn't start afterwards (I press the power button, optical drive powers on and that's it - never goes any further). It boots fine when plugged in power. Did anyone else see this before? I've reset the PRAM. I'm hesitant to call Apple since my 90 phone support is off (how retarded is that?).
 
You're sure the battery is properly in place? If it isn't fully connected, which I suspect might be the problem, it will not be able to draw any power from the battery. If you're positive it's in place, then you'll have to call Apple. I would guess that either you have a dud battery, or maybe the contact points on your notebook have been damaged somehow. You can call about this without worrying because this isn't a "support" question, it's a "my hardware has broken down because it's defective" complaint. If they even try to sell you Applecare, tell them to transfer you to a manager. You don't need an extended warranty to make a company live up to its original one year warranty.
 
It's completely flush with the bottom of the laptop. It charges fine (it was at 40% this morning and now it's at 100%). It has only 16 load cycles. I'll call them tomorrow.

Yeah, that's weird then. Give them a call and tell them that the battery refuses to provide power to your computer. If they give you any guff, be sure to keep going higher and higher. Remember, every manager has a manager above them.
 
Called Apple, they sent me to a service provider here. Battery is shot. Apple will ship me a new one and I have to ship them the bad one. I didn't even have to turn in the laptop. Groovy.
