Problem with boot up

I have a mini server (v3,1) that hangs at the welcome screen during installation. Installation via CD seems to work, and disk utility reports the disks as normal. But after the initial install from CD it just hangs.

I did have to open it up to replace a failed disk.

Any thoughts?
