Everytime I run Windows under Parallels, it starts up fine, with the pop up that says "Activations successful." But once I run Windows under Bootcamp, it said that my Window is counterfeit, and then it log me off. I can't even get to the desktop under bootcamp. The copy of the Windows that I am running is the one that I brought from school, so I'm sure it's not counterfeit.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I really need it running since I have to do homework on Microsoft Access.

EDIT: It also said that I need to insert the Vista DVD to reactivate Windows. If I do insert the DVD will everything that I have be deleted?

I don't know how Windows licensing works, but maybe it believes parallels to be a different system than boot camp, therefore, it believes you've exceeded your license. ...Just a guess.

This is the first time that it happen though. I have been using it through bootcamp for over 5 months now, and it worked fine until today.

BTW, I don't know if it matter, but it's a Windows Vista

Have you been running it through Boot Camp and Parallels the entire time, or is Parallels new?

I believe I am in the same boat as you. My fall semester is finally over and finally finding some free time during the christmas holidays I decided to upgrade my bootcamp partition from XP to Vista Ultimate.

Everything went smoothly and it runs perfect under bootcamp. It's also activated. However, whenever I run it under parallels the "Activated" icons switches back to "3 days till automatic activation." I strongly believe that if I activate it under Parallels it's going to mess up the bootcamp activation because Vista does indeed think that Parallels and Bootcamp are TWO different machines. Sucks big time. If anyone has a solution to this, please do tell because at times I really need to run windows under OS X and don't have the time to reboot.

Thanks.
