Just got a mini last night and I am having a problem with an acer monitor connected via dvi by the adapter that is included with the mini. When coming out of standby the screen will get really snowy and everything gets distorted. I have unhook the cable and connect it a couple of times for it to come back up. This is a pic of what it looks like.

Is it that my monitor is incompatible or do I have a bad hdmi/dvi adapter?

I cant help you why your having that problem, but something like this seems to be common with apple adapters. I myself have three mini display port to dual link dvi adapters. And with all of them when waking up various macs which are connected to dell 30" and apple 30" screen via that adapter they all get that snowy image (similar to yours) I am extremely p***ed because those adapters cost 100 each and they don't work. I have the newest firmware etc. Amazed apple charges that much and they don't work like they should, they are also not releasing any fixes for it. I checked google and thousands of users are having the same problem as me. So its not just me :D
Sorry that I cant help you, just thought id share the fact that apple adapters seem to suck (I don't know if this is solely the MDP - Dual Link DVI or this one and the hdmi to dvi)

Do you think if I order another one from monoprice it should not have that problem?

I know for sure the MDP do DVI and MDP to VGA adapters work without issues (Well mine do). Id say try the one you need, if it doesn't work, return it for a refund.

I ended up finding an old hdmi->dvi adapter that came with a video card and lo and behold the problem went away. I guess the apple adapter is junk. Still ordered a thunderbolt->dvi adapter from monoprice though.
